Custom Outdoor
Timber Steps Installation
For this job, we were asked to build a custom set of outdoor timber steps to connect the elevated garden area with the lower courtyard. The space was quite tight, with stone retaining walls on one side and a rendered wall on the other, so precision was key. We started by constructing a sturdy timber frame to suit the uneven levels, ensuring everything was anchored securely and square. From there, we laid out custom-cut plywood panels to form the steps, each carefully measured to achieve a neat, geometric, cascading look that followed the shape of the corner.
The client wanted something both functional and aesthetically striking, and the angular step faces really helped to create that modern edge. The plywood here is a temporary cover layer—we’re set to finish the surface with either composite decking or treated hardwood depending on the client’s final choice. These steps not only improve access but also add character to what was previously an underutilized area.

Backyard Deck and
Pergola Project
This backyard transformation involved designing and building a raised timber deck complete with a large pergola cover. The existing outdoor area was flat and underused, so our client wanted something that would elevate their outdoor living experience. We used treated pine for the structure and decking boards for durability and cost-effectiveness, then finished the surface with a rich decking oil to enhance the wood grain and protect it from the elements.
The pergola frame was constructed with solid timber posts and beams, and we installed a durable polycarbonate roofing sheet to allow light through while still offering protection from the rain. One of the key challenges here was ensuring the entire structure was level and well-integrated with the home, especially around the entry points. The end result is a beautiful, spacious entertainment area that’s ideal for hosting, relaxing, and enjoying the backyard all year round.
Hardwood Deck with Pergola
This was a premium outdoor upgrade for a client who wanted to elevate their poolside space with a luxurious feel. The existing decking needed replacing, so we installed a new hardwood timber deck using Merbau boards, known for their strength and natural beauty. Each board was individually placed and fixed with stainless steel screws to ensure long-term durability, especially in this high-humidity, shaded environment surrounded by dense foliage.
To enhance safety and style, we added a frameless glass pool fence using stainless steel spigots and reinforced glass panels. It provides a completely unobstructed view while meeting all safety requirements. The pergola above was custom-built with treated hardwood and fitted with a twin-wall polycarbonate roof to allow filtered light through while still offering UV protection. The entire build was finished with oil staining and sealing to bring out the natural tones and ensure weather resistance. It’s now a serene retreat area that feels like a private resort.
